Call for papers
7th RAILWAY HISTORY CONGRESS
Valencia, 18-20 October 2017
AThe Iberian Association of Railway History (ASIHF) will organize the 7th Railway History Congress in Valencia on the 18th, 19th and 20th October 2017. Resuming the congresses organized between 1998 and 2012 by the Spanish Railways Foundation (which has ceded the branding of these events to the ASIHF), with this seventh call we aim to contribute to research and divulgation of Spanish, Portuguese, European, Latin-American and International railway history.
The congress will be held in the headquarters of the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP). As has happened before, it will count with the institutional support of the Generalitat Valenciana and the UIMP and with a Scientific Committee that will coordinate the organization of the event and guarantee its quality.
The organization of the 7th Congress invites the scientific and academic community to propose papers on the following subjects:
Railway corridors in a historical perspective: the case of the Mediterranean
Regional and Autonomic railways
The role of railways during the Spanish Second Republic and Civil War
The role of railways in the socialist economic thought
Engineers and railways in the 19th and 20th centuries
Any other theme that will be included in a general session.
In order to be accepted by the
Scientific Committee, the
proposals should have an
historical perspective; they
also should possess academic
levels of quality demanded by an
event of this nature; and they
should be sent before the
deadlines indicated below.
Please send your abstracts (no longer that 300 words) to the organization’s email address (7congresoHF@asihf.org) before October 31 2016. The Scientific Committee will announce no later than November 30 2016 the acceptance of the proposals. Afterwards the selected authors should send the complete papers (up to 12,000 words) until May 31 2017. The registration fee is 50€. Unemployed researchers and associates of the ASIFH are exempt of the registration fee. Further down the road the organization will give addition details about the event.
